Volunteer

We rely on dedicated volunteers for the success of many of our programs and projects. Just a few hours of your time can make the  difference.  Some examples of how you can help as a volunteer are:
  • Post flyers. Big Moves' events draw in people from around the Bay Area, but we want more! Ask us about routes and timelines for upcoming publicity campaigns.
  • Staff events. Take tickets, set up chairs, decorate the walls, hand out chocolates... there's a job to suit anyone, from shy to chatty, artistic to active. Volunteering for an event gets you in free, and you'll get your name in the program to boot!
  • Make costumes. Our performance projects include a hip hop troupe, a modern ensemble, and even some burlesque. We need people who can get our dancers costumed well on a very small budget.
  • Join the Big Moves Advisory Team. Big Moves is currently accepting applications to join the A-Team, which is responsible for raising funds, planning events and programs, and supporting the executive director in same.

Donate Money

Money doesn't make the world go 'round, but it does pay theater and studio rental fees, teacher fees, postage costs, printing costs, and countless other expenses that Big Moves has. We are a fiscally sponsored program of Intersection for the Arts, which means your donation is fully tax-deductible to the limits of the law.

When you donate to Big Moves you get membership benefits as well.
  • $50 gets you one complementary Big Moves class of your choice
  • $100 gets you two complementary Big Moves classes of your choice
  • $250  gets you all of the above, plus one complimentary ticket to Bodies in Motion V (October, 2005)
  • $500 gets you all of the above, including two complimentary tickets to Bodies in Motion V, plus autographed copy of Laurie Toby Edison’s groundbreaking photo collection, Women En Large.

Wondering how your monetary donations help us? Here are just a few ways we can put donated money to use:
  • $10 pays for a book of stamps and box of standard envelopes for our mailings
  • $15 dollars pays for one run of our promotional cards
  • $30 (on average) pays of one hour of studio rental for our classes and rehersals
  • $50 dollars pays for one week of Phat Fly Girl rehersal space
  • $150 dollars (on average) pays for one month of studio rental for one of our ongoing classes
